The cold air from the night had frozen the boy when he awoken in an unfamiliar room in what he only knew until now as the abandoned mansion up the street from his own. He got up and started calling out to the void of silence surrounding him. He wasn't exactly shocked by this because McGregor Falls is known for its otherworldly behavior.
Up until now he had only seen doors opening, vases falling and the occasional floating bed but this was definitely the strongest thing the town had done to him before. He scavenged through his pocket looking for a flashlight to no avail. He stood in place for about a minute half expecting the floor to give in under him as his eyes adjusted to the darkness.
As he silently moved throughout the house he occasionally had saw a flash out of the corner of his eye moving into different rooms. He wanted to get out of the place as fast as he could and thought that the strange flashes were his best chance of escaping. As he followed them they began to become more and more rapid but he still managed to follow them through the mansion.
He tailed the flashes into an empty room where the doors shut behind him, he wasn't exactly surprised seeing how from the beginning of his chase he knew he could be going into a trap. As he scoured the edges of the room to find an unlocked door he began to realize that the room was lighting up even though there were no windows and the lights were shattered.
He looked to the center of the room to find the spirits of his dead parents hovering above their mangled corpses. And then he fainted.
